INCENTIVE/FIT: Having stood up for what she believes in for the first time, Lapis is determined to make sure that her decision doesn't go to waste. She doesn't ask to be free of Malachite's self-destructive influence; she just wants it made absolutely certain that neither Jasper nor Malachite herself will ever be able to break free of the prison Lapis has created for them, and that they will never be able to hurt Steven.

As for her fit, while she is an alien from a society that lacks most human social behaviour, and she's been trapped in a mirror for thousands of years, she declares Steven her friend not long after he begins talking to her through the mirror and proceeds to make several significant gestures in the name of that friendship. It's likely that she has never known physical affection, considering what we know of gem society, but she is more than mature enough to adjust. Consent is something she would value highly, because she has never been offered it in her life and this plays a major role in her character arc; given the freedom to make choices of her own, she'll also be respectful of the choices of others.

ANYTHING ELSE? Gems have several powers that are shared across their race, and a small few unique to each specific gem.

• The physical form of a gem is a construct; the gem (as a person) is contained in the literal gemstone affixed to their form
• Because of this, any damage done to the body is non-fatal, and in the event of serious physical damage, a gem will retreat into their gemstone for anywhere from hours to days in order to heal
• However, damage done directly to the gemstone "destabilises" a gem, causing their physical form to malfunction, and cracks in a gemstone can easily be lethal
